The longest wavelength (the distance between successive peaks or troughs) of any ocean wave is around 12,000 km (7,500 miles) for the tides caused by the Sun and Moon. For comparison, tsunamis have a wave wavelength of around 200 km (125 miles) and normal wind-driven ocean waves have a wavelength of around 50-100 m (165-330 ft).
