The person who has achieved the most circumnavigations of the Earth is Gennady Padalka (RUS), who completed more than 14,000 orbits during his 879 days and 11 hours of cumulative spaceflight time. Padalka joined the Soviet cosmonaut corps in Jan 1991, and made his first trip to space as part of Mir Expedition 26 on 13 Aug 1998. He would remain in space for 198 days during that mission, circling the Earth around 3,100 times. He returned to Earth for the last time on 12 Sep 2015, having been part of expedition 43/44 to the International Space Station.
