The Ben Franklin (PX-15) measured 14.85 m (48 ft 9 in) in length, with a displacement mass of 133.8 tonnes (295,000 lb). She was developed by NASA and Northrop Grumman (both USA) and built in Switzerland. On 14 July 1969 she was launched, with a crew of six, on a 30-day mission to drift in the Gulf Stream at a maximum depth of 600 m (1,970 ft). She was sold privately in 1971 and now is on display at the Vancouver Maritime Museum, Vancouver, Canada.
