On 3 September 1966, John Ridgway and Chay Blyth (both UK) rowed from Cape Cod, USA, to the Aran Isles, Ireland, in English Rose III, the first ocean row of the 20th century. The row took place 70 years after the first ocean row by Norwegians George Harbo and Gabriel Samuelsen in JuneAugust 1896.
