The emotional epic, directed by James Cameron, depicts an ill-fated affair between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
It is one of three films, along with Ben-Hur (USA, 1959) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (New Zealand/USA, 2003), to collect 11 Academy Awards – the most Oscars won by a movie.
Titanic’s theme track “My Heart Will Go On”, sang by Céline Dion, remained in the UK charts for 20 weeks, selling over a million copies. It reached No.1 both in the UK and the USA in 1998.
