The largest tennis racket measures 15.32 metres (50 ft 3.07 in) long and 5.1 metres (16 ft 8.6 in) wide. It was created by Ashrita Furman (USA) and was presented and measured in New York, New York, USA, on 27 August 2012. The outsized racket was a to scale replica of a "Bancroft Billie Jean King Personal" wood tennis racket. It was made from the exact same materials as the original. The head of the outsized tennis racket was constructed of 24 layers of laminated plywood glued exactly the same way as in the original. The handle was made from Douglas fir and the grip was made from artificial leather and included the "breathing holes" that can be found in the original. The weight of the racket is approximately 2.72 tons (6,000 lbs).
