The hottest white dwarf star measured to date is H1504+65, which has a surface temperature of around 200,000 C (360,000 F), roughly 30 times the surface temperature of the Sun. Its temperature was established in a study led by Professor Klaus Werner (Germany), of the Universität Tübingen, Tübingen, Germany, and published in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics in May 2004.
A “white dwarf” is the compact glowing remnant of a dead star.
