The largest harp measures 28.03 m (91 ft 11.52 in) tall and 21.80 m (71 ft 6.24 in) long and was achieved by Sichuan University of Culture and Arts (China) in Mianyang, Sichuan, China, on 18 October 2021.


The idea of creating large musical instrument was initiated 5 years ago, by one teacher in this university focusing on research of combination of technology and art. The idea was then greatly supported by the university and the harp was started to be built in the campus in 2018. It was completed in 2019, and the harp weighs over 120 tons and has 49 strings.

This year is the 20th anniversary of the university establishment, a celebration gala was held on 18 October 2021 in campus. As an important element of the celebration, the adjudication result upon the harp was announced. The harp was played and showcased it's function in the celebration gala.
