The shortest time that has elapsed between the death of a individual and their canonisation is 337 days. St. Peter of Verona, Italy, died on 6 April 1252 and was canonised on 9 March 1253.

In modern times, Mother Teresa of Calcutta is the record holder, with her beatification being within two years of her death. This was only after special dispensation from The Vatican, as in 1983 it had established a minimum wait of five years post-death for any sainthood.
