The Great Orme Mines, Llandudno, UK, contain at least 8 km ?(5 miles) of accessible tunnels. They were mined for copper from around 1800 BC until the end of the bronze age (c. 750 BC). Mining occurred again from 1692 until 1881. The first chambers of the original mines were discovered in 1976.
