Tom London (USA, 1883 - 1963) made the first of his 2,000-plus performances on screen in The Great Train Robbery (USA 1903), as the locomotive driver (his job in real life). By 1919 he was playing starring roles at Universal under his real name, Leonard Clapham, which he changed to Tom London in 1924. When he became too old for the lead roles he went into character parts, specialising in sheriffs in 'B' westerns. His last picture credit was Willard Parker's The Lone Texan (USA 1959).
