John Bougen and James Irving (both New Zealand) made 191 flights as part of the same journey from 28 August 2002 to 12 February 2003, during their successful attempt to visit as many countries as possible in six months. Their journey started and finished in Auckland. In accordance with the requirements necessary to qualify as a 'journey', they did not return to New Zealand until the end of the trip, and repeat visits to airports were deducted from the total.
