Largest attendance for a DJ set by a single artist

Calvin Harris (UK, b. Adam Wiles) turned the Brazilian city of São Paulo into one massive street party by climbing on board a carnival float and performing a DJ set in front of an estimated 1.6 million revellers on 8 February 2026. Wearing a “00”-numbered Brazilian football shirt with “Calvinho” on the back, Harris worked his way through a setlist featuring many of his biggest hits – including “This Is What You Came For”, “One Kiss”, “I Need Your Love” and “We Found Love” – as singing and dancing fans brought the carnival atmosphere to Rua da Consolação, near Avenida Paulista, located in the heart of the nation’s most populous city.

According to reports, the 42-year-old Dumfries-born DJ and producer’s headline appearance at a parade also featuring local talent led to overcrowding that forced the closure of Rua da Consolação, with some fans fainting in temperatures that reached 27°C (80.6°F).

On social media, commentators heaped praise on the Scottish hit-maker, with reactions like “Absolute madness in Brazil”, “@calvinharris absolutely THREW DOWN in São Paolo”, and “It's only February, but @calvinharris has already provided the top moment of 2026”.

Calvin Harris was 2025’s highest-paid DJ, with an estimated net worth of $300 million (£222.3 million).

In a country renowned for attracting vast numbers of revellers to music events in its major cities, 1.6 million was, incidentally, also the estimated size of the crowd that witnessed Madonna’s free concert on Copacabana Beach on 4 May 2024, for the concluding date of her Celebration Tour.
