The largest sikh temple outside of India is the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara temple in Southall, London, UK. The building has a total area of 6,000 m² (64,583 ft²) and has a capacity for 3,000 people. The was officially opened on 30 March 2003.
The building took almost 3 years to build, at a cost of £17 million ($26,647,500), which was funded by the Sikh community. There is a first floor prayer hall and second floor gallery (which can seat 2,000 people). The aim was to build a temple that was second only to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India.
