Smallest rideable penny farthing

The smallest rideable penny farthing, with a 29-cm-diameter (11.4-in) front wheel, was built by Dan Bolwell (Australia) and ridden by Flo Woodward and Finn Woodward (both UK) in London, UK, on 13 June 2026.

Seven-year-old Flo was first up to put the bijou bike to the test covering 100 m (328 ft) at the City of London Nocturne event. Next up was her six-year-old brother, Finn. Both completed their runs on the first attempt. The siblings' parents, Rolf and Julie, are also avid penny-farthing riders, with their mum even setting her own record in 2024, for the fastest 1 km on a penny farthing (female), though it's since been surpassed.

Waiting at the finish line was Dan Bolwell, aka "Penny Farthing Dan", who had spent several months creating the incredible contraption in Australia before it was shipped over to the UK to be tested and unveiled. At the same event, the largest penny farthing, with a front-wheel diameter of 254 cm (100 in; 8 ft 4 in), and also created by Bolwell, was demonstrated.

Little Bee stands just 62 cm (2 ft) to the handlebars and its smaller rear wheel has a diameter of 12 cm (4.7 in).
