On 20 August 2015, Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor’s (both USA) duet “Marvin Gaye” climbed from No.90 to No.1 on the UK Official Singles Chart. The track’s low-ranking debut position was based on the strength of streaming activity alone, but it surged to No.1 after it was released digitally.
“Marvin Gaye” was both artists’ second UK No.1: Trainor’s “All About that Bass” had spent four weeks at the top in 2014; Puth’s collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, “See You Again”, was a two-week chart leader earlier in 2015.
On 29 November 2003, Irish group Westlife became the only act to ever jump from the very last position on the unpublished UK Top 200 chart to the top spot with their single "Mandy".
