The revolving pedestal crane at the Yantai Raffles shipyard in Yantai, China, is thought to be the most powerful of its kind. It can lift 2,000 tonnes (4.4 million lb) to a height of 95 m (311 ft) from its main hook, and 200 tonnes (441,000 lb) to 135 m (443 ft) from its secondary arm. The giant lifter sits atop a 40 m (131 ft) concrete tower and is designed for use in the construction of oil rigs and other tall vessels.
The crane was completed in January 1991.
