The largest serving of fermented rice (pakhala) weighs 1,174 kg and was achieved by Odisha Tourism (India) in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, India on 20 March 2026
Pakhala is made using a local rice, water, curd and some garishing ingredients like curry leaves, mango ginger, lemon, green chilies and coriander. The prepared rice was distributed amongst the needy by the Robin Hood Army.
