Virat Kohli (India) has made more half-centuries at the T20 World Cup than any other player – 15, in 33 innings (35 matches) between 2012 and 2024. His 15th and final fifty before announcing his retirement from T20 Internationals came on the grandest stage, hitting a player-of-the-match-winning 59-ball 76 in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Bridgetown, Barbados, on 29 June 2024 that helped India lift the trophy for the second time.
Kohli’s international teammate and opening partner Rohit Sharma, who also bowed out of T20 Internationals after the T20 World Cup in 2024, is second with 12 T20 World Cup fifties to his name (from 44 innings in 2007–24).
As of 23 February 2026, Kohli had scored the most runs – 1,292 – in the 10-edition history of the T20 World Cup and the most runs at a single tournament – 319 in Bangladesh in 2014.
