As of 4 February 2026, the most tattooed person in terms of multi-layered inking is Jeremy "Remy" Schofield, aka Ephemeral Remy (Canada), who, since 2005, has had at least 90% of his body's surface area covered and re-covered in up to 40 layers of tattoo ink, with some regions filled in more than 100 times.
Remy has spent more than 4,000 hours under the needle, covering his old bodysuit tattoos with multiple layers of solid black and topping this with new layers of multi-coloured designs. He continues to have his "neverending" artwork revised in up to three well-documented tattoo sessions every week. Only parts of his face, palms and soles are untouched.
Remy joins Guinness World Records Icon Lucky Diamond Rich (Australia/New Zealand) as a record holder. Rich's record is based on the total percentage of the body tattooed, whereas Remy's title is based around the amount of tattooing done over multiple layers.
