Most Grammys won for Best Rap Performance

Kendrick Lamar (USA, b. Kendrick Lamar Duckworth) has claimed eight of the 16 Best Rap Performance awards that have been presented since the category was revived at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards in 2012. On 1 February 2026, he collected his latest statuette for his contribution to “Chains & Whips” (Clipse feat. Kendrick Lamar & Pharrell Williams) – one of the unrivalled five awards he picked up at the 68th edition to take his career tally to 27 Grammys.

Also contributing to Lamar’s phenomenal success in the category have been: “Not Like Us” (2025), “The Heart Part 5” (2023), “family ties” (Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar, 2022), “King’s Dead” (feat. Jay Rock, Future & James Blake, 2019; award shared with Anderson. Paak’s “Bubblin’”), “HUMBLE.” (2018), “Alright” (2016) and “i” (2015).

Lamar’s eight Best Rap Performance wins have gone a long way to making him the most decorated rapper in Grammy Awards history. The rapper/producer bagged a total of 27 statuettes in 2015–26 – leaving Jay-Z (25), Kanye West (aka Ye; 24) and Eminem (15) trailing in his wake.
