According to Paul Zimnisky Diamond Analytics' latest report, Russia produced approximately 44 million carats of natural diamonds in 2017 – equivalent to 30.9% of the total global production of natural diamonds mined that year.
Russia also holds the current record for largest producer of natural diamonds by value (country) according to the same data set: its diamond haul in 2017 was valued at $4.9 billion (31.4% of the global total value for that year).
The largest producer of natural diamonds by volume (mine) is the Argyle Diamond Mine in the Kimberley region, Western Australia, Australia, which produced 17.1 million carats of natural diamonds in 2017 – equivalent to 12% of the total global volume mined that year.
