Quad Squad Expedition team members Valerio De Simoni, Kristopher "Ted" Davant and James Kenyon (all Australia) started out from Istanbul, Turkey, on 10 August 2010, and set a new record for the longest journey on a quad bike (ATV) with 56,239 km (34,945 miles) accumulated. The expedition finished after 437 days 19 hours and 9 minutes in Sydney, Australia, with a 500-strong motorcycle escort, on 22 October 2011, having passed through 37 countries in the process.
The record is based on the lowest odometer reading among the team members. The countries crossed were: Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Belgium, UK, Ireland, France, Andorra, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Australia. The team used three 2011 Yamaha Grizzly 700 FI 4x4 EPS. The motorcycles were never replaced, only repaired when necessary. Jamie's quad bike was donated to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia after completion of the journey.
