The highest-grossing PG movie worldwide is Disney’s Zootopia 2 (aka Zootropolis 2; USA, 2025) which had grossed $1,710,396,118 (£1.27 bn) as of 20 January 2026, according to The Numbers. Remarkably, the film broke the $1-bn barrier just 17 days after its release.
Zootopia 2’s record-breaking box-office returns were driven especially by strong international turnout, including exceptional success in China. It is also the fastest PG-rated film to reach the $1-billion mark worldwide, according to The Numbers. The first film, Zootopia (aka Zootropolis, USA, 2016), launched the franchise to critical acclaim and more than $1 bn in global box office earnings, establishing Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as beloved characters in a vibrant animal metropolis.
Ne Zha 2 (China, 2025) grossed more than Zootopia 2, taking 14,265,482,649 yuan ($1,989,046,691; £1,449,352,685) worldwide by 30 June 2025, according to The Numbers, making it the highest-grossing animation overall at the global box office. But as it didn't have an official rating, Zootopia 2 takes the record specifically among PG movies.
