Youngest person to climb the first five 8,000ers

The youngest person to climb the top five highest mountains over 8,000 m (26,247 ft) is Nima Rinji Sherpa (Nepal, b. 18 April 2006), who was 18 years 51 days old when he completed his ascent of Kangchenjunga on 8 June 2024. He had previously climbed Makalu (4 May 2024), K2 (27 July 2023), Lhotse (25 May 2023) and Everest (24 May 2023).

The climb was made as part of Nima Rinji's project #SherpaPower, which he began on 30 September 2022 aged 16 years 135 days with an ascent of Manaslu. As a result of his project, Nima Rinji is also the youngest to climb the first two, the first three and all 14 of the 8,000ers. In addition, he became the youngest person to climb K2 (17 years 100 days) and Kangchenjunga (18 years 51 days), and with the ascent of K2 also the youngest to conquer the Pakistan Five (K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum 1, Broad Peak and Gasherbrum 2).
