The longest modern art sculpture is Marsyas , which measures 150 metres (492.1ft) long and approximately 10 storeys high and was created by Turner Prize winning artist, Anish Kapoor (India). The giant sculpture will be displayed in the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern, London, UK until April 2003.
Marsyas comprises of three steel rings joined together by a single span of red PVC membrane. The title refers to a satyr in Greek mythology, who was flayed alive by the god Apollo. Kapoor began the project in January 2002.
