The fastest 1 km para ice swim under International Ice Swimming Association regulations by a male swimmer is 19 minutes 20.99 seconds, achieved by Francois Lambrechts (New Zealand) at the IISA NZ & Southern Hemisphere Pool Championships in Alexandra, New Zealand, on 13 July 2024.

As per IISA rules, an ice swim must take place in water that is 5.0°C (41.0°F) or colder, with only a standard swimming costume, goggles and swimming cap permitted.

At the same event, Lambrechts also claimed the 500-m record, with a swim time of 8 minutes 59.71 seconds.
