The lowest fuel consumption driving the Sydney–Melbourne Coastal Drive by a plug-in hybrid powered production sport utility vehicle (SUV) is 3.83 litres per 100 km and was achieved by Geely Auto Team (China), driving a Geely Starray EM-i, organized by Geely Automobile International Corporation (China) in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, from 9 to 10 December 2025.
With a verified fuel consumption figure of 3.83L/100km – measured after completely refilling the Starray EM-i’s tank in Frankston (40.38L) and the mileage was 1,056 km, – the SUV not only managed to set a new world record, but also bettered Geely’s own official NEDC fuel consumption figure of 4.4L/100km.
