The most Winter Olympic gold medals won in men’s cross-country skiing is eight, by Bjørn Dæhlie (Norway) from 1992 to 1998. He won two titles each in the 25 km combined pursuit, 4 x 10 km, 50 km and 10 km. Dæhlie also won four silvers, for a total of 12 medals.
Dæhlie’s tally of eight is the most gold medals won by any Winter Olympic athlete, alongside biathlete Ole Einar Bjørndalen.
