First Sonic character to appear in a comic book

Sonic the Hedgehog Story Comic is a three-volume comic, the first of which was featured in the Jun/Jul 1991 issue of Japan's Mega Drive Fan magazine. It tells the story of the events of the first Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega, 1991) videogame, and although the Blue Blur himself is still the main character, it's actually series villain Dr. Robotnik who shows up before anyone else, arriving on p.3 to menace the peaceful South Island animals.

The comic contains references to things that were cut from or changed in the game - such as Sonic being the singer for a band - because it was finished before the 1991 game came out.
