The most consecutive Formula One pole positions is eight, achieved by Ayrton Senna (Brazil) driving for McLaren between the 1988 Spanish Grand Prix and the 1989 USA Grand Prix; and equalled by Max Verstappen (Netherlands, b. Belgium) driving for Red Bull Racing between the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the 2024 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.

Verstappen equalled Senna’s record of eight consecutive pole positions on 18 May 2024, at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Italy. It was the 30th anniversary weekend of Senna’s death at the same track, Imola.

Verstappen had qualified fastest in the first seven races of the 2024 F1 season, following pole at the final race of the 2023 season.
