The youngest member of windsurfing's 50-knot club is Brendan Lorho (France/Netherlands, b. 13 June 2005), who was 19 years 171 days old when he reached a speed of 50.62 knots (93.7 km/h; 58.2 mph) at the Lüderitz Speed Challenge in Namibia on 1 December 2024.
Brendan first breached the 50-knot barrier by hitting 50.17 knots, shortly after noon, but had a few more runs before clocking 50.62 knots - the fastest speed recorded in the under-21s category. He was in good company: a 50-knot wind across the 500-m speed strip also resulted in the absolute male and female speed records being broken that day in Lüderitz.
