Three writers have won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction (known as prize for novels until 1947) twice: Booth Tarkington (The Magnificent Ambersons 1919 and Alice Adams 1922); William Faulkner (A Fable 1955 and The Reivers 1963) and John Updike (Rabbit is Rich 1982 and Rabbit at Rest 1991).
