Largest Madhubani painting

The largest Madhubani painting is 18.696 m² (201.242 ft²) and was achieved by Bihar State Sports Authority (India) in Patna, Bihar, India on 27 April 2025.

This record was attempted to raise awareness and promote “Khelo India 2025 Games”. “Khelo India” is an initiative by the Government of India and aims to revive the sports culture in India at the grassroot level by building a strong framework for all sports played in the country. The state of Bihar has been an active participant in promoting this national vision.

The painting was created by traditional artists using a variety of mediums and paints derived from natural dyes and took 50 hours to make. The artists involved have been practicing this art form for ages and have mastered all the intricacies needed to create a masterpiece.
