The longest-running drag queen pageant is the Miss Fire Island Pageant (USA), which has been held annually on Fire Island, an outer barrier island off the South Shore of Long Island in New York, USA, since 1966.
A drag queen called Matty was crowned the first winner in 1966.
Contestants compete in categories such as daywear, evening wear and talent, and are judged by a panel on their make-up, poise, overall presentation and entertainment value.
The winner receives a tiara and a cash prize, and the pageant has its own original song that is sung during the crowning ceremony.
At the 59th edition, Sophya Medina was named Miss Fire Island 2025 on 30 August.
