Mirra Andreeva (Russia, b. 29 April 2007) won the Dubai Tennis Championships on 22 February 2025 at the age of 17 years 299 days. Andreeva defeated Denmark’s Clara Tauson 7–6, 6–1 in the final at the Aviation Club to confirm her status as the youngest winner of one of the 10 WTA 1000 tournaments on the Women’s Tennis Association Tour calendar, so-called because they’re worth 1,000 ranking points to the winner. The events are effectively the second tier of competition on the WTA Tour, behind only the four Grand Slams (2,000 points) and the WTA Finals (1,500).
Andreeva, the 12th seed, beat three Grand Slam winners on her way to the Dubai final: Markéta Vondroušová, 7–5, 6–0 in Round 2; Iga Świątek (the winner of four WTA 1000 tournaments in 2024), 6–3, 6–3 in the quarter-finals; and Elena Rybakina, 6–4, 4–6, 6–3 in the semi-finals.
Andreeva collected $597,000 (£471,889) for winning the Dubai Tennis Championships – and, for the first time, sealed a spot in the Top 10 of the WTA world rankings.
