The most women in orbit simultaneously is five. This was achieved on 5 October 2022, when the SpaceX Crew-5 mission arrived at the International Space Station with astronauts Nicole Mann (USA) and Anna Kikina (RUS) on board. They joined Samantha Cristoforetti (ITA) and Jessica Watkins (USA), who had arrived on the station as part of the Crew-4 mission on 27 April. In addition to the four women on the ISS, there was also one woman, Liu Yang (CHN), on the crew of the Tiangong space station during the same period. The number dropped back down to three on 14 October, when Watkins and Cristoforetti returned to Earth.
