Chinese competitive gamers have earned a total of $321.59 million from playing in 4,936 tournaments, as of 5 February 2025, according to Esports Earnings. This places China ahead of the USA ($289 million) and Korea ($153 million) - the only other two nations whose gamers have winnings total over $100 million.
Esportsearnings has logged the winnings of 9,096 Chinese gamers. The country's top earner is Wang "Ame" Chunyu, whose total stands at $4.2 million.
The most lucrative game for the country is Dota 2 (Valve, 2013), which is responsible for $85.77 million in prize money for Chinese players. The single most lucrative event for Chinese gamers was The International 2016: Dota 2 Championships held in Seattle, USA, which earned Chinese teams $10.68 million - just over half of the available prize pot of $20.77 million; this was also the first esports tournament to offer more than $20 million in prize money.
