The largest non-nuclear conventional weapon was reportedly successfully tested by Russia on 11 September 2007, after being released from a Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bomber. With destruction achieved by an ultrasonic shockwave and extremely high temperatures, this weapon is said to be four times more powerful than a previous record holder, the American Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB) - or more commonly the “Mother Of All Bombs” (a precision-guided weapon weighing 9,752 kg (21,500 lb)). Russia has yet to declare it operational, but it has already acquired the nickname “Father Of All Bombs” (FOAB).
