The fastest 4 x 50 m relay ice swim under International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) regulations is 1 minute 52.55 seconds, achieved by Team Poland – Michał Perl, Marta Piasecka, Karolina Szalast and Michał Jagiełło – at the 6th IISA® World Ice Swimming Championship in Molveno, Trento, Italy, on 16 January 2025.
Starting as of this event, IISA had adopted the same policy for relays as the World Aquatics organization (e.g., that per a four-person team, two swimmers must be male and two female).
Taking place between 13 and 19 January 2025, the 6th World Ice Swimming Championship saw a record participation of 756 swimmers representing 48 different countries. As per all IISA events, the water temperature must be below 5°C (41°F) and the swimmers are only permitted to wear a swimming costume, cap and goggles.
The debut IISA World Ice Swimming Championship took place within the Arctic Circle in Lake Semenovskoe in Murmansk, Russia, on 20–22 March 2015, where the water temperature dipped below 1°C (34°F).
