The first official postage stamp featuring neon artwork was the "Celebrate!" stamp designed by visual artist Michael Flechtner (USA) for the US Postal Service. Its first day of issue was 25 March 2011 and it was reissued in September 2015.
Initially planned to be a commemorative release, it was soon upgraded to a "forever stamp", meaning that its value is maintained permanently to the cost of a US First Class Mail letter. To date, 60 million of these stamps have been printed.
The original neon artwork that appears in the stamp is now on display at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, DC.
