On 10 June 2024, South Africa (113 for 6) set Bangladesh a modest victory target at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, USA, but still prevailed by four runs. Economical bowling by Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, and three wickets for Keshav Maharaj, restricted Bangladesh to 109 for 7 in 20 overs in their Group D match.
Sri Lanka (119 all out vs New Zealand on 31 March 2014) and India (119 all out vs Pakistan on 9 June 2024 – a day before South Africa’s record win) had previously shared the accolade.
The lowest total successfully defended in all international T20 matches is 90 all out, which was good enough for Nigeria to beat Sierra Leone (71 all out) by 19 runs on 24 October 2021.
