Most millionaires (city)

The city with the highest number of millionaire residents, according to data compiled by wealth management firm Henley & Partners, is New York City (USA). As of 7 May 2024, New York is home to an estimated 349,500 individuals with a net worth of at least $1 m.

The Henley & Partners data defines millionaires as individuals with at least $1 million in liquid assets – i.e. cash or assets such as stocks and bonds that can be quickly and easily traded or sold. It excludes wealth that is tied up in illiquid assets such as real estate. Including property would massively increase the number of millionaires, as the average value of a home in New York City is around $800,000.
