Thomas Franks is a food catering company and in 2019 the Thomas Franks Foundation (charity no. 1185180) was established to provide support to under served and vulnerable children and young adults across the UK. They set a goal of making up to 100,000 meals to help people in food poverty through the winter months. Over 27,289 kg of food was prepared by 100 chefs and 160 volunteers who worked together to facilitate packing, weighing, labelling and transporting the food. 80 school students from Wellington Schools (Somerset) also volunteered their time to help achieve the record. Four recipes were made including lentil dhal, curry, five bean chilli, and mediterranean vegetable medley. The meals are going to 16 organisations across Somerset, and a further 450 across the south of England. Raj Singh, director of the charity and organiser of the event, said that they had to call in every friend they had to make this possible and the atmosphere was one of happiness, cooperation, camaraderie and kindness.
