With 23 nominations for the 76th (2024) Primetime Emmy Awards, US comedy-drama The Bear (FX, 2022–present), starring Jeremy Allen White as the award-winning chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, attracted more nods than any other TV comedy series in a single year. Fourteen nominations for the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards (seven of which it won at the 7–8 September 2024 ceremony, including Outstanding Guest Actor and Actress awards for John Bernthal and Jamie Lee Curtis, respectively) were followed by the show’s nine nominations for the Primetime Emmys on 15 September 2024, when The Bear snapped up four gongs: Outstanding Lead Actor, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (awarded to White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colón-Zayas, respectively) and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Christopher Storer).

Ahead of the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards in 2009, Tina Fey’s satirical sitcom 30 Rock (NBC, 2006–13) picked up a total of 22 nominations – the most nods for a TV comedy series until Storer’s The Bear roared to success in 2024 with 23.
