The first Minecraft player to reach the Far Lands in Survival Mode is KilloCrazyMan (USA), who completed the challenge on 19 June 2020, covering more than 12.5 million blocks - the real-world equivalent of over 12,500 km (7,767 miles).
A bug in early versions of Minecraft (up to Beta 1.7.3 for the Java Edition) resulted in a glitch in terrain generation at the game's outer limits, at a distance of c.12,550,821 blocks from the origin point. KilloCrazyMan's nine-month journey in 1.7.3 earned him a a reward of $10,000 (£8,012) from the game's creator, Markus "Notch" Persson.
