According to legal industry journal The American Lawyer, the world's highest-earning law firm is Kirkland & Ellis (USA), which had a gross revenue of $3.165 billion (£2.257 billion) in 2017.


This represents $1,585,000 earned for every lawyer in the firm. Kirkland & Ellis have represented clients in some of the biggest legal cases of the last few decades. They represented BP in the aftermath of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Heinz during the proceedings leading up to its merger with Kraft foods in 2016, and Nike in copyright disputes relating to the Air Jordan "Jumpman" logo in 2015.
