The youngest driver to start a Formula One World Championship race is Max Verstappen (Netherlands, b. Belgium 30 September 1997), aged 17 years 166 days at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on 15 March 2015.

Verstappen became F1’s youngest-ever driver at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix – driving for Toro Rosso, he managed 32 laps until his race was ended by engine failure. He would go on to become the youngest driver to both finish and win an F1 race.
