The first team to row the length of the Coppename River by canoe/kayak are Ash Dykes, Jacob Hudson, Matthew Wallace (all UK) and Dick Lock (Netherlands) in the Sipaliwini District, Suriname, on 4 October 2024.
The team were dropped by helicopter in the Wilhelmina Mountains and trekked through jungle to locate the source of the river. The total journey from source to sea was completed in 37 days, and included hiking to Suriname's highest peak to set a second record for the fastest time to climb Julianatop (team).
