May Beveridge set the record at the Lakes Entrance Croquet Club in Victoria, Australia, aged 101 years and 171 days. She competed in a sanctioned seven-hoop doubles tournament, playing four games alongside players from Lakes Entrance, Sale and Bairnsdale. The event was organised after fellow club member John Mitchell realised May could become the world’s oldest competitive croquet player. At the time of verification, she continued to play two games a week and at club championships.
